Emotion Coaching training and Siegel’s hand model of the brain, a key part of this approach.

I recently attended a course in Emotional Coaching and this book was suggested as a reference. I have ordered this book , it’ll come today today so I won’t be reviewing it yet. But I was blown away by the hand model of the brain and felt I had to feature it in a post and all the neuropsychological research behind it. It made absolute sense to me and I can see lots of uses for it in my role as a psychologist. In fact I think all people involved with children and young people would find it invaluable.

What I like about the model is the emphasis on plasticity of brain function and that I think brings hope, we can help C and YP improve their emotional literacy, we can help them better manage their feelings.

There’s a fantastic series of You Tube clips about the model, any will help you understand this simple idea very quickly. I will review this book when I’ve read and I look forward to finding out more about Emotional Coaching and hooking up with those who already use it.  More on this to follow when I’ve absorbed, processed and found out more… As always I’d love to know what you think too.
